Etihad Airways, Air Cambodia launch codeshare to unlock seamless travel to Angkor Wat
Partnership enhances travel routes between Abu Dhabi and key Cambodian destinations
ABU DHABI – Etihad Airways and Air Cambodia have formally launched a codeshare partnership, strengthening air connectivity between the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
The agreement provides Etihad passengers with streamlined access to Cambodia’s most iconic destination, the Angkor Wat temple complex, via Siem Reap.
The collaboration also enhances travel options through Phnom Penh, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a growing global aviation hub. The move is expected to support rising tourism demand between the two regions.
Seamless access
Through the new arrangement, Etihad customers can now book journeys from across its global network to Siem Reap on a single ticket, connecting via Phnom Penh. The service includes through-checked baggage, allowing passengers to travel more smoothly without collecting and rechecking luggage during transit.
Beyond the UNESCO-listed Angkor Wat, Siem Reap offers night markets, Khmer culinary experiences, and a strong cultural tourism appeal that continues to attract international visitors. In return, Air Cambodia passengers gain access to Etihad’s flights between Phnom Penh and Abu Dhabi, opening direct links to the wider Middle East and onward destinations.
Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, said Cambodia is an increasingly important market within the airline’s expanding global network. He highlighted that the partnership enables seamless access to Siem Reap and surrounding regions through a single booking via Abu Dhabi, reflecting rising demand for travel in both directions.
Regional connectivity
Eng Molina, Chief Commercial Officer at Air Cambodia, described the agreement as a strategic step in strengthening air links between Southeast Asia and the Middle East. He noted that Air Cambodia passengers will benefit from direct access to Abu Dhabi, a key hub for business, tourism, and trade, while Etihad customers gain deeper exposure to Cambodia’s cultural landscape.
The agreement also extends beyond Cambodia, with Etihad travellers able to connect to Air Cambodia’s Vietnam network through an interline arrangement. This includes access to destinations such as Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc, broadening travel opportunities across the Indochina region.
Etihad commenced flights to Phnom Penh in October 2025, linking Abu Dhabi directly with Cambodia’s capital. The latest codeshare builds on that route, further integrating both airlines’ networks and strengthening regional aviation connectivity across Southeast Asia.
